Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is common among men who are in their late thirties and early forties but younger men are also not spared in some cases. Before we look deeper into the causes and symptoms of prostate cancer though, let us first look at the functions of the prostate glands and the reasons why this condition is quite common among men.

The prostate gland is just a small organ; it is just about the same size as a walnut and it is located at the bottom of the bladder. The urethra which is the tube that takes the urine from the bladder to the penis is surrounded by the prostate. For this reason, any enlargement of the prostate gland will make it difficult for you to urinate because it narrows the tube. You should note though, that when you experience any enlargement of the prostate gland doesn't necessarily mean that you are already suffering from prostate cancer.

The symptoms of prostate cancer are hard to detect especially when it is at its early stages. Basically, the cancer tumor of prostate cancer can either be malignant or benign and this can spread from your prostate to other parts of the body through a process called metastasis. Some men do not actually experience any symptoms of prostate cancer even though it is already developing in their body. This is because some types of prostate cancer are relatively slow to develop and it is not a serious risk to their health.

On the other hand, prostate cancers in some men are also sometimes very aggressive. You will most likely experience the symptoms of prostate cancer when it first grows in the prostate gland and then moves to the urethra. Some of the common symptoms men experience include difficulty in urinating and the feeling that your bladder is not empty. Other symptoms include the dribbling of the urine before or after you urinate. Some men also noticed that there is a weak flow of urine when they urinate and they have to go to the bathroom several times during the night to urinate.

Other serious symptoms of prostate cancer include having blood in the urine. Some men also complained of having experience excruciating pain during orgasm. These symptoms are the same whether the prostate cancer is malignant or benign so you should consult with a doctor immediately upon experiencing any of these symptoms. In addition, you run the risks of acquiring other types of cancer when your prostate is not immediately treated because it can spread to the bones on your lower back and even your pelvis. This will cause your bones to become tender and very painful.

The causes of prostate cancer are not really known but there are trends among men with this condition that was observed. One that the risk or acquiring prostate cancer steadily increases as men grows older. In addition, this risk is heightened especially if you have close relatives especially your father that has this condition.
